Getting Started

  • Create a new game. You should not play the random legacy challenge in a world that you've already been playing, it's important to start off with a blank slate.

  • Create your founder(and spouse/helpers if applicable) in CAS. You may choose any genders, ages, appearances, traits, aspirations, and family relationships that you want, though you may not create any of the children. The only condition is that the heir must be at least a young adult.

  • Move the family into any empty lot that you can afford it. It doesn't matter whether it's blank or it contains a pre-built house. It is recommended that you pay some attention to the neighborhood features(such as fishing or play areas that are accessible without traveling to another lot), but otherwise the choice is up to you. You may pick your own lot traits, if allowed by your starting parameters.

  • Set aging to normal and turn aging on for inactive families. If you find a mod that adjusts life stage lengths, you can use it, as long as the total number of days is roughly the same as you would get under normal aging. Story progression mods, when they emerge, are acceptable to use in order to keep your neighborhood populated, but this challenge will not work with rotation-style play

  • Roll generation 1

General Rules

  1. This challenge runs for 10 generations. You will create the 1st generation in CAS, and the challenge ends when the 10th generation has completed their goals and the 11th generation's heir has come of age.

  2. Remember: No cheating is allowed!

  3. Money can only be earned through rolled careers, so if you got painter as your primary profession, you can't make money doing gardening

  4. You don't need to send your elderly away, they can stay at home and you can receive pension, or if you want, you can create a Care Centre and send all the old people there

  5. You are allowed to sell children's art and duplicate postcards. You can also use the nanotouch bin.

  6. Sims must be aged up on their birthday when they have 0 days left. Babies can be aged up when you get the message it is their birthday

  7. Career and other rewards cannot be sold right away. I recommend that you build some basement with every stuff that you earn

  8. You can freely choose aspirations as long as a roll doesn't require them to be random

  9. The heir must be one of the children rolled for the previous generation and must have grown up in house.

    • Gender Law:

      • Only patriarchy: the heir must be a man, if you didn't have any sons, then you have to keep trying even though exceeds the maximum of kids for the generation, or you could adopt one

      • Patriarchy: the heir must be a man, if you didn't have any daughters, then a girl can be the heir

      • Only Matriarchy : the heir must be a woman, if you didn't have any daughters, then you have to keep trying even though exceeds the maximum of kids for the generation, or you could adopt one

      • Matriarchy: the heir must be a woman, if you didn't have any daughters, then a boy can be the heir.

      • Equality: it doesn't matter if it's a boy or a girl

      • Always equality: you should alternate between genders, one time will be a boy, the next should be a girl and so on

    • Sucession Law

      • First Born: the first born is the heir

      • Last Born: the last born is the heir

      • Will: the kid with the best relationship with the heir become the new heir

      • Strength: make your kids fight, the one who wins become the heir

      • Random: you randomize to see which kid will become the heir

      • Democracy: you can make people vote for the heir

  10. The next generation takes over on their young adult birthday

  11. Spares must leave the house within 24 hours of YA birthday unless they are to become helper

  12. You may create spouses and helpers in case but traits must be randomized and they must be moved into town not the legacy home

  13. You may download spouses and helpers from the gallery

  14. You may reroll if you get the same career or goal for two or more gens in a roll

  15. No potions can be purchased only traits with your reward point

  16. Funds that sims move into the legacy home cannot keep funds they bring in. You may use cheats to remove them. Type Money and then the amount the family had before

  17. The family can operate a retail business to sell crafted goods if they rolled a career that sells them. If you have city living, the vendor table counts the same

  18. Can choose lot traits when moving in but cannot change them unless required by a roll.

  19. Clubs are allowed but can't be used for cheating and cannot change club activities more then once a week

  20. Buy this statue that should be in your house through the entire challenge

     Random Legacy Challenge

ren2-1-300x235.png

The Random Legacy Challenge is a 10-generation legacy-style challenge which is defined by its randomly-generated parameters governing careers, types of marriage, number of children, and even more aspects of the game, that each generation must follow. No two Random Legacies are ever the same! If formulaic challenge strategy bores you and long-term thinking bogs you down, this is the challenge for you!
